Sunjyoth Shetty, a student of Poornaprajna Pre-University College, Udupi, who got 587 out of 600 marks in the Science stream in the Second Year Pre-University Course examinations, on Wednesday said that he would like to do engineering in either IIT or NIT and then become an IAS officer.

Son of advocate Sunil Kumar Shetty and councillor of Karkala Town Municipal Council Jyoti Shetty of Karkala, Mr. Sunjyoth Shetty told The Hindu that he wanted to serve society in a non-political manner.

Hence he aimed to become an IAS officer.

He said that systematic studying and guidance by his teachers had helped in getting high marks.

“I used to be attentive in all the classes and religiously take down what the teacher taught.

The notes which I prepared helped me a lot”, he said.

Till his preparatory examinations in January this year, he used to study for two or three hours a day.

But after the preparatory examinations, he he said he studied for nearly 10 hours a day.

He attended coaching classes not Second Year PUC examinations but for IIT and AIEEE examinations. “I solved the questions papers of previous II PU exams, which proved a big help,” he said.

“I attribute my success to god, my teachers, my parents, and my friends”, Mr. Sunjyoth Shetty added.
