The Karnataka High Court on Thursday directed the Commissioner of Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) to personally appear before it on Friday.
A Division Bench, comprising Chief Justice, J.S. Khehar, and Justice A.S. Bopanna, passed the order on a public interest litigation (PIL) petition by Lt. Col. B.P. Rai.
The petitioner had challenged the acquisition of land by the BDA for the Rs. 3,500-crore peripheral road project. He said the BDA had sought to acquire the lands even before the project was ready.
He urged the court to quash the notification acquiring land for the project.
The Bench noted that though it had asked the BDA to file objections, it had not been done.
It directed the BDA Commissioner to be present on Friday and adjourned further hearing of the case.
