The Hyderabad Karnataka Rakshana Samiti (HKRS) has demanded that the State and Union governments initiate immediate steps on amending Article 371 of the Constitution was amended soon.
Addressing members of HKRS here on Thursday, president of the HKRS Yeshwant Hattarki said it was unfortunate that the issue was being prolonged unnecessarily.
The members took out a padayatra from Surpur in Yadgir district to Gulbarga city to drum up support for a protest to put pressure on both the governments.
He said the HKRS would launch a sustained struggle demanding amendment to Article 371. Mr. Hattarki also demanded that the government waive crop loans taken by farmers in view of the severe drought in the region and failure of crops.
Mr. Hattarki also wanted a State government direction to the Red Gram Development Board to reopen procurement centres immediately.
