HASSAN: Hassan district has registered a pass percentage of 49.94 in the second year pre-university (PU) examination.

Of the 13,368 students who had appeared for the examination, 6,676 students have passed, according to Deputy Director of PU Education Dorai Swamy. Girls have fared better than boys in the district. Mr. Dorai Swamy said that 52.85 per cent of girls had passed and 45.7 per cent of boys had cleared the examination. Among the 2,812 Schedule Caste students who had appeared for the examination 1,102 had passed and among the 229 Schedule Tribe students who wrote the examination 89 had passed.

In the Arts stream, 3,709 students, of the 8,452 who had attended examination, have passed. In the Commerce stream, 1,582 students, of the 2,396 who had attended examination, have got through. In the Science stream, 1,385 students, of the 2,520 who had attended examination, have passed. Mr. Dorai Swamy said that 52.37 per cent of urban students and 45.65 per cent of rural students had cleared the examination.
