The former AICC member T.D.R. Harishchandra has urged the AICC president Sonia Gandhi and president of the Samajawadi Party Mulayam Singh Yadav to work towards an electoral understanding to ensure a comfortable victory in the ensuing legislative assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh to be held in May.
Mr. Harishchandra, who held discussions with the Samajawadi Party leader in New Delhi recently, said an electoral understanding between the two parties would be beneficial to both the parties.
Incidentally, the understanding between the two parties had enabled the United Progressive Government win a confidence vote on the floor of the Lok Sabha in 2009.
Mr. Harishchandra said he had conveyed to the AICC president that he is willing to serve as an election observer in the Uttar Pradesh elections.
