The Manipal University Press (MUP) will release its 16th publication, ‘A Birder’s Handbook to Manipal’ authored by Ramit Singal, a fourth year engineering student of Manipal Institute of Technology, at the Amphitheatre in Madhav Vihar at 6.30 p.m. here on Saturday.

According to a press release issued by Manipal University here on Friday, ‘A Birder’s Handbook to Manipal’ is the comprehensive work covering 205 species spotted by the author in Manipal. It is the result of three and half years of regular monitoring of several habitats and species of the region, and provides precise data regarding the distribution and status of each of the species in resplendent colour.

It is designed to complement field guide and enhance birding experience in Manipal. The book is packaged along with a CD with 80 calls of 69 different species of birds. Mr. Singal took to birding seriously since 2006.

He now is an experienced birdwatcher regularly contributing to media articles, online blogs and websites, nationwide monitoring programmes, while also conducting regular birdwalks for new as well as old birders in Manipal. The book will be released by H. Vinod Bhat, Pro Vice Chancellor of Manipal University, the release said.
