MANGALORE: Writer Hamza Malar of Mangalore has been selected for the `Muslim Sahitya Prashasti', which is an annual prize instituted by the Muslim Lekhakara Sangha of Mangalore for upcoming Muslim writers.

Mr. Malar's "Arasthanada Kathegalu" has been chosen for the award. His earlier works include 25 other books in Kannada and Beary languages. He is the editor of the newspaper Moilanji published from Mangalore. He has brought out 30 episodes of his story "Biligaddada Manushya". The award, carrying a cash prize of Rs. 5,000 and a citation, will be given on February 3.
