SHIMOGA: The shifting of the former Minister H. Halappa to Victoria Hospital in Bangalore for advanced treatment has been delayed by a day as JMFC Ravikanth posted orders on the application to Thursday after verifying the documents submitted by the staff of the McGann General Hospital on Halappa's medical condition.
Medical Superintendent of the hospital S.K. Mahendrappa despatched the letter to Jail Superintendent Sheshamurthy on Wednesday recommending that the permission be given to shift Mr. Halappa to Bangalore for advanced treatment in view of his health problems.
Mr. Sheshamurthy referred the letter to the court for its consent. But in the court, the JMFC, after hearing arguments from the CID and the jail superintendent, posted the hearing for Thursday.
Assistant Public Prosecutor Chandrashekhar told The Hindu that the CID requested during the argument that the court could pass orders to shift Mr. Halappa to Bangalore as there was a “genuine reason”.
Bharatiya Janata Party leaders continued to visit the hospital to inquire about Halappa's health condition. They included State BJP vice-president M.B. Bhanuprakash and secretary of district BJP unit Dattatri.
