Bangalore: The condition of the former Minister H. Halappa, who has been accused of rape and was shifted to Victoria Hospital from Shimoga on Friday, is stable, said doctors attending on him.

“He is being assessed by our doctors.

“He has undergone some blood tests today after our ENT, Orthopaedic and Cardiology specialists saw him,” B.G. Tilak, Medical Superintendent of Victoria Hospital, said.

Following complaints of health problems, the Shimoga Magistrate Ravikanth had directed the Shimoga jail authorities to admit Mr. Halappa to the McGann General Hospital in Shimoga on Thursday.

From there, he has been referred to Victoria Hospital for further treatment.

Apart from respiratory problems, Mr. Halappa suffered from hypertension, diabetes, vertigo and asthma, the doctor said.

He had been admitted on the second floor of the Master Plan building in the hospital.
