The newly-constructed Haradi Ramanna Shetty Memorial Indoor Gymnastics Stadium located at Shri Bal Maruti Samstha campus, Kille in Dharwad is set to hold the Karnataka State Schools under–14 and under–17 gymnastics competitions for boys and girls from Tuesday.

The 2-day event will be jointly organised by the district administration, the zilla panchayat, the Department of Public Instructions and the Dharwad District Olympic Association.

In a release, association president P.H. Neeralakeri said it was the eighth time and second year in succession that Dharwad was hosting the event. Nearly 500 competitors from 15 districts of the State will be taking part. Events in floor exercise, table vault, parallel bars, rings and pommel horse will be held. Siddharudha Kainadagu and Amruta Mudrebett of Dharwad and Ujwal Naidu of Bangalore, who won medals in the National School Games last year, will be the main attractions of the competitions to be held here.

Stadium

The new Haradi Ramanna Shetty Memorial Indoor Gymnastics Stadium, which provides 70 x 140 square feet space, will be completed at Rs. 45 lakh, of which Rs. 25 lakh has been spent already. Minister of State for Infrastructure and Information Santosh Lad will inaugurate the event at 9.30 a.m. in the presence of the former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, while MLA Arvind Bellad will preside over the function, he said.
