The former Union Minister M.S. Gurupadaswamy was laid to rest with full State honours in the presence of Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa and senior elected representatives at Mallana Moole, near Nanjangud, on Wednesday. The former Minister passed away on Tuesday in Bangalore, following a heart attack.

Among those present were Minister for Medical Education S.A. Ramdas, Minister for Forests, C.H. Vijayashankar, Minister for Excise Renukacharya, MLAs, MLCs, MPs, other local representatives, and religious leaders.

Earlier in the day, thousands of people paid their last respects to the departed leader whose body was kept at his residence on Ramanuja Road.

There was a steady stream of visitors through the day, including elected representatives, officials and well-wishers after which the cortege set off for Mallana Moole.
