The Guru Nanak Pragat Samagam will be held here from April 24 to 29. This is to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the visit of Guru Nanak to the city.

Devotees from across the country will visit the Gurudwara Guru Nanak Jhira and participate in the various rituals and festivities, according to a release by Balbir Singh, president of the Guru Nanak Jhira Foundation. On the last day, the foundation plans to honour Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Karnataka Governor H.R. Bhardwaj, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda.
