Police Flag Day observed in Shimoga

Police Flag Day was observed at the Parade Grounds here on Saturday.

Winners of the Chief Minister's Award and retired police personnel were felicitated on the occasion. Retired sub-inspector Nanje Gowda hoisted the flag.

Sharing his views, he said police personnel should take to sports to remain physically fit.

Sports and yoga help in managing stress which had become an integral part of the work, he said.

Superintendent of Police Raman Gupta underscored the need to ensure harmonious relationship between police personnel and general public.

People should cooperate with the police to ensure peace and order, he said.

The State Government had selected Purushotham, Circle Inspector at Hosanagar, and Rathnakar, a constable at Kargal, for the Chief Minister's Award. The award boosted the morale of the police personnel in the district, he said.

Presenting the annual report, Additional Superintendent of Police M.B. Pavin said that Rs. 4.05 lakh was mobilised through the sale of police flag in the district last year.

He said 50 per cent of the amount had been contributed to the welfare fund of police personnel. It had been planned to establish a health centre, and provide computer training to police personnel in the coming days, he added.
