GULBARGA: Gulbarga district recorded its highest day temperature of 46.1 degree Celsius on May 13, crossing the 45.4 degrees Celsius recorded on May 17, 1989.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said the present heat wave in Gulbarga district will continue for another two days with projected day temperatures of 45 degrees Celsius on May 15 and 16. The IMD at the same time said Gulbarga city would experience a partly cloudy sky. There was some respite from the current heat when sharp showers accompanied by heavy winds brought down the temperature considerably, on Friday. The reports said other parts of the district too experienced some rain in the afternoon. The day temperatures in Gulbarga district hovered around 43 degree Celsius in the first week of May and rose to 45 degrees on May 11 and May 12. Night temperatures also continued to be oppressive at more than 30 degrees Celsius.
