The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board has issued guidelines and the precautionary measures to be taken to control pollution during Deepavali festival. In a press release here, it has said that these guidelines were issued in the view of the protection of public property and public health and to stop environmental and sound pollution. During the festival season, firecrackers with high decibels are to be avoided. Bursting of firecrackers between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. had been prohibited, it said. Firecrackers should not be burst in silent zones earmarked near hospitals, schools and prayer halls. People found violating the norms will be prosecuted, it warned.
