HASSAN: The Jayakarnataka Janapara Sanghatane has criticised the former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda for not responding to the problems of the farmers of Dasarakoppalu who have been protesting in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office since March 2 against the forcibly acquisition of their land.

State president of the sanghatane, Kumaraswamy, alleged that Mr. Gowda, who is MP for Hassan, had taken a delegation of farmers to New Delhi to protest against the BMIC project, but when farmers in his own district were protesting he was not concerned about it. Addressing farmers and their families in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office here on Thursday, Mr. Kumaraswamy accused Mr. Gowda of not being concerned about the plight of farmers in his home district.

Mr. Kumaraswamy said H.S. Prakash, MLA, had not responded either.
