Hinting at a coalition government in the State after the Assembly elections, Janata Dal (Secular) national president H.D. Deve Gowda on Thursday said that it was an era of coalition government and it would not be possible for any political party to form government on its own.

Addressing presspersons at his residence here, Mr. Gowda said he would launch campaign from Friday till May 3 and his first destination was his native district Hassan. Leaders, including State president H.D. Kumaraswamy, party floor leaders in Assembly and Council H.D. Revanna and M.C. Nanaiah respectively, would be the star campaigners.

Pacifying dissidents

Admitting discontentment over the selection of candidates in some constituencies, he asserted that he would personally intervene and pacify aspirants, who have been denied ticket.

Refusing to react on the resignation of his lieutenant H.K. Javare Gowda to the post of district president and primary membership of the party, Mr. Gowda said he would address the issue during his visit to Hassan.
