B. Govindarajulu, a supporter of the BSR Congress floated by B. Sriramulu, MLA and associate of G. Janardhan Reddy, was unanimously elected Deputy Mayor of Bellary on Thursday. The election was necessitated following the resignation of C. Ibrahim.

As Mr. Govindrajulu was the only person to file nomination papers, he was declared elected by Deputy Commissioner Amlan Aditya Biswas, who was the Returning Officer. The 35-member city corporation controlled by the BSR Congress. G. Somashekar Reddy, MLA; J. Shantha, MP; Mrutyunjaya Jinaga, MLC; and T.H. Sureshbabu, Kampli MLA, along with other members of the city corporation, congratulated Mr. Govindrajulu.
