Sparks protests from BJP supporters in Mysore and Chamarajanagar
Workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Mysore unit, staged a dharna in front of the Balarama Gate of the Mysore Palace here on Tuesday, protesting against Governor H.R. Bhardwaj's recommendation to the Centre for President's Rule in the State.
They alleged that the Governor and the Congress had hatched a conspiracy to topple the BJP Government, despite it having a majority and the people's support.
The workers shouted slogans against the Governor and the Congress, calling Mr. Bhardwaj a “Congress agent” and alleging that he behaved in an “autocratic” manner.
Countering the BJP's agitation, Congress workers, led by the former Minister and MLA Tanveer Sait, staged a demonstration at Gandhi Square, urging the Centre to impose President's Rule in the State as per the Governor's recommendation.
