All-India Congress Committee general secretary Oscar Fernandes, when asked about his opinion on the Bharatiya Janata Party hesitating to issue show-cause notices to 14 MLAs who took part in Haveri rally on Sunday, said: “The government will come down on its own if it falls short of a majority. There is nothing for us to do (in this).” Asked about the impact of the Karnataka Janata Paksha, Mr. Fernandes said, “We have to do our work. People are with us.” He said during his tour of the constituencies he had gathered that the Congress would fare better this time in the Gujarat Assembly elections.
Train to Bangalore
Mr. Fernandes said he had spoken to Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal about the need for a new train between Mangalore and Bangalore.
He hoped that the proposal will be included in the next budget. A delegation from Mangalore, led by Congress leader P.V. Mohan, had visited New Delhi recently in this regard and it had submitted a memorandum to Mr. Bansal through Mr. Fernandes.
