The Dr. V.K. Gokak National Trust has decided to install statues of Jnanpith Award winner V.K. Gokak at four places in Dharwad and Haveri districts.

The members of the trust, who met in Haveri on Thursday under the chairmanship of Patil Puttappa, finalised the places to install the statues of the litterateur.

Two of them will be at Savanur in Haveri district, the birthplace of Gokak — at Gokak Circle and a bust at Mazid High School where he studied. Both statues will be of bronze.

Another statue will be at Guttal Cross (KEB Circle) in Haveri, while the last, a marble statue, will be in front of Karnatak College in Dharwad where the writer served as principal.

Members of the trust Ramakant Joshi, G.M. Hegde, Channaveera Kanavi, Jinadatta Desai, N.P. Bhat, Satish Kulkarni, Additional Deputy Commissioner Suresh Itnal, and member secretary of the trust Shashikala Huded participated in the meeting.

They were accompanied by Municipal Commissioner H.K. Rudrappa and officials of the Public Works Department when they went on an inspection of the site at Haveri.
