MANGALORE: The 23 paintings on display at the Orchid Art Gallery are the works of artist Kuppanna Kandgal.

Mr. Kandgal’s paintings appear to repaint themselves in your heart.

The closed eye of the characters is a recurring detail in his paintings.

The paintings titled “Encounter within the innermost” depicting images of a bull appear to probe the violence within oneself.

“Fish in the sea is not thirsty” was inspired by the eponymous book by Osho Rajaneesh. The images of man and boat on the vast sea depicts the unquenchable human thirst for materialistic comforts. Three paintings titled “Amidst Nature” display the intimate relationship between women and nature. The exhibition is on till July 20, between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. at Orchid Art Gallery.
