PANAJI: The Goa Government on Thursday revised the minimum wages to Rs. 103 a day from Rs. 86.

A meeting of the Minimum Wages Board held under the chairmanship of Joaquim Alemao, Minister for Labour, approved the revision in minimum wages in 20 scheduled employments. The revision will increase minimum wages by 18 per cent and benefit about 50,000 workers in the unorganised sector.

Various industry bodies resisted the frequency of revision of minimum wages,.

They appealed to the Minister at the meeting that the minimum wages be decided on a more scientific basis.
