Congress candidate from Hubli-Dharwad (East) Assembly segment Prasad Abbayya has said that as the people’s choice in the previous elections had left them disappointed, they should give him a chance.

Addressing presspersons here on Thursday at the party’s office, Mr. Abbayya said that instead of criticising his opponents, he wanted to focus on convincing his voters to support him. He spoke about his plans for the constituency’s development.

Mr. Abbayya said that BJP’s Veerabhadrappa Halaharvi, who represents the segment in the Assembly, had failed to get adequate funds for the constituency’s development. He said that he had the support of several Congress leaders in the region, who would canvass for him.

There had been several aspirants for the party ticket; however, they have all agreed to support him, Mr. Abbayya added.

He said that he would work to ensure that the needy were allotted Ashraya houses. He added that he would work on meeting the infrastructure needs of the city, and for the development of the backward regions in the constituency.
