An 18-year-old girl has gone missing from her house here ever since the results of II Pre-University (PU) exam were announced. Asha, a resident of Govindarajnagar and a student of Sangamitra College, Vijayanagar, reportedly went missing on Wednesday after she found out that she had failed in the exam.

Asha reportedly told her parents on Wednesday morning that she was going to the temple with friends. When she did not return, the parents — Shivanna, an assistant cook at a hotel, and Jayamma, a tailor — lodged a complaint with the Vijayanagar police. Sources said the girl had sent text messages to her friends that she will not come back.

Asha's parents have told police that they suspect that their daughter had been kidnapped by their neighbour.
