Bangalore: A Ghana national has been arrested by the International Airport Police in Devanahalli on charge of collecting money from an ex-serviceman whom he allegedly enticed with an online lottery scam.

The police seized a mobile phone, passport and some documents from Akachi Nbursi (26), a student of Business Administration at Annamalai University. Nbursi allegedly cheated Tejappa of Hassan of Rs. 6 lakh, promising him millions in return.

In October 2009, Nbursi established contact with Tejappa on the internet telling him he had won $ 1 million in a global online lottery and persuaded him to pay a processing fee of Rs. 6 lakh.

Mr. Tejappa deposited the money in Nbursi’s account. When Nbursi sought more money, Mr. Tejappa asked him to come to Bangalore to collect the amount.

“The accused was picked up at the Bangalore International Airport (BIA) on Wednesday morning when he arrived here from New Delhi to collect money,” the police said and added that preliminary investigation indicated that Nbursi might have cheated many more in the city.
