For those of you interested in astronomy, an Indo-French seminar on Astronomical Heritage will be held on Friday as part of Bonjour India, Festival of France.

The seminar will be held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium on T. Chowdaiah Road, High Grounds.

Experts will throw light on interesting developments in astronomy in the recent past.

Director of the planetarium B.S. Shylaja will speak on ‘A comparative study of astronomical instruments in Asia’.

Denis Savoie and Jean-Marc Bonnet Bidaud will speak on the history of astronomy and will also unveil a project called ‘The highway of Jantar Mantar’.

While Jean-Marc is an astrophysicist at the Astrophysical Department of the French Atomic Energy Commission, Savoie is a French astronomer who specialises in history of science (astronomical tables).

The event will be jointly organised by the planetarium and Alliance Française de Bangalore in association with the French Embassy and Institut Francais.

The three-hour seminar starts at 3.30 p.m.
