The sound and light show to be held on Karwar beach to unfold a bygone era
The Uttara Kannada district administration, the Tourism Department and the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation will jointly arrange a mobile sound and light show on the Karwar beach on Saturday and Sunday evening. The show is being held to commemorate the 500th anniversary of Sri Krishnadevaraya's coronation.
Addressing presspersons here on Wednesday, K.H. Narasimhamurthy, Deputy Commissioner in-charge, said such a show was being performed for the first time in India.
He said that the history, heritage and glory of the Vijayanagar empire, as well as the life and times of its most famous ruler, Sri Krishnadevaraya, would be showcased thorough the show. The aim of the show was to showcase Hampi, a world heritage site, and to familiarise people with the mighty Vijayanagar kingdom, he explained.
Mohan, technical consultant of the show, said spectators would sit in a prominent place selected for this purpose and witness the historical events unfolding before them. The events are recorded and played back from an audio source with speakers and light-fixers placed at strategic locations for the hour-long show.
The monuments, which act as backdrops, are aesthetically used for the depiction of historical incidents using sound and light effects, he said. The spectators would be made to feel that these incidents from the past were being recreated before them.
A trial show will be held for officials and presspersons on Thursday, he said.
