The General Insurance Employees' Union, Mysore unit, which is affiliated to the General Insurance Employees' All-India Association, will hold its second district conference at Hotel Sri Guru Residency here on Saturday.

The association has resolved to oppose foreign direct investment (FDI) in the general insurance sector and seek immediate appointment of Class 3 and Class 4 employees in the sector.

District secretary of the union N. Somanna, in a press release, said that the meeting would demand restoration of appointments on compassionate grounds, scrapping of outsourcing agencies, amalgamation of four public sector undertakings in the general insurance sector into a single monolithic corporation, scrapping of the New Pension Scheme and reckless implementation of transfer and mobility policy.

He added that redressal of retired employees' pending issues would also be sought.
