Sirsi: Ganesh Hegde Dodmane, social worker and brother of the former Chief minister late Ramakrishna Hegde, died at his residence, “Totadamane”, in Siddapur, near here on Friday after a brief illness. He was 86. He is survived by his wife, four sons and three daughters. The cremation will take place on Saturday.

Mr. Hegde had served in banks, cooperative societies, educational and religious institutions. He also dabbled in journalism besides agriculture. Mr. Hegde was the founder of Siddapur Shikshana Prasarka Samiti, Siddapur. He was director of Karnataka Bank (for two terms).

Mr. Hegde was an active promoter of many organisations. He was the editor of local daily Munnade.

Condolence

The principal, staff and students of MES College of Commerce, Sirsi, and MGC College of Siddapur and staff of Chetana Bank and Chetana Press have mourned Mr. Hegde.

Siddapur MLA Vivekandand Vaidya in his condolence message said that Uttara Kannada district had lost a great leader.

Pramod Hegde of Janata Dal (Secular), Yellapur; Ramanand Naik, Ankola; BJP district unit president Vinod Prabhu, and Kanara MP Anathkumar Hegde have expressed their grief.
