The Gadinada Utsava (Border Area festival) will be held on November 26 and 27 at Castle Rock village in Joida taluk. The Utsava is jointly arranged by the Karnataka State Border Development Authority (KSBDA), Uttara Kannada district administration, zilla panchayat and Kannada and Culture department, according to B. N. Krishnaiah, Deputy Commissioner of Uttara Kannada.

Addressing the presspersons at Karwar on Friday, Mr. Krishnaiah said that a procession would be taken out on Saturday morning which would be inaugurated by Chandrakant Bellad, Chairman of KSBDA. The function would be inaugurated by noted historian and writer M.M. Kalburgi. On Saturday afternoon, a seminar would be held and the life and problems of the people residing in the border areas would be discussed. A “Kavigoshti” would be held on same evening, he said.

On Sunday, cultural programmes would be held. Part from the local artists from Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, and Manipur would participate. These programmes are arranged by the South Zone Cultural centre, Tanjavur, he said.

He said special buses are arranged to ferry the people to the Utasva. He requested people to participate in large numbers. Assistant Commissioner O. Kishanachand was present.
