World Voice Day was celebrated at the All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH) here on Tuesday.

A free comprehensive voice test for singers and teachers was conducted to mark the occasion.

The test included perceptual, acoustic and aerodynamic evaluations of voice and also stroboscopic evaluation. In-charge Director of AIISH Asha Yathiraj inaugurated the event.

Y.V. Geetha, head, Department of Speech-Language Sciences; K. Yeshoda, Lecturer and chairperson, Professional Voice Care Unit; T.K. Prakash, ENT surgeon; T. Jayakumar and R. Rajasudhakar, lecturers and members of the team; and Amoolya G. and Deepthi D., Project Officers, were present.

Posters prepared by students as part of the competitions were displayed along with vocal hygiene tips for the benefit of visitors.

Twenty people of different professions benefited from the free voice test done, a release from AIISH said here.
