Bangalore: The Bangalore airport police on Thursday night detained four Sri Lankan nationals, including two women for allegedly attempting to fly overseas using forged documents. They were about to board an Air France flight to Italy.

The police gave the names of the detained persons as Anula Dayasri Hihara Hewage, Indunil Thushara Fernando Thattage, Rashmi Peshangika Jayasinghe Arachchige and Dinusha Kumari Warnakulasooriya.

The police detained them when they approached the immigration counter for clearance. When questioned about their travel documents and work permits, they did not give a satisfactory reply, the police said. Further interrogation showed the arrival departure stamps on their passports and work permits for Italy were forged.

The Sri Lankans told the police that some persons in Bangalore had helped them procure the forged documents after collecting Rs. 3 lakh from each of them.

The Airport police have registered a case and are investigating.
