One accused nabbed in Kolhapur, three others in Belgaum
: The Goa police on Sunday arrested four persons in connection with the Hassan Khan murder case.
The accused have been identified as Anil Maruti Bhoe (24), Arun Unathi Patil (19), Ravi Prabhu Patil (26), Shivaji Raju Patil (23) all hailing from Kangrali, Belgaum.
Hassan Rehman Khan (35), a businessman and resident of Taleigao, was recently found murdered in his car. Mr. Khan’s body was found in his car on Thursday night at Bambolim in north Goa. He had gone out with prospective customers for a test drive, and when he didn’t return his family started searching for him.
The Aggasaim police arrested Robert Gonsalves of Panaji and Abinandan Kumar of Calangute on Saturday night and kept them in police lock-up and subsequently they were remanded in police custody for seven days.
Panaji Judicial Magistrate First Class Sarika Faldessai remanded the four accused in police custody for five days after they were brought to Goa.
Robert Gonsalves, a suspended draftsman of the Directorate of Mines and Geology, and contractor Raj Patel alias Abhinandan Kumar confessed about the murder plan and provided the names of the others.
A police team left for Belgaum on Sunday and arrested one of the accused in Kolhapur and three others in Belgaum.
The police said on Tuesday that the four accused had worked as labourers with Patel. The police claimed the four labourers were hired by Gonsalves and Patel to kill Khan for Rs. 5 lakh and the promise of an additional Rs. 2 lakh after the murder, as a gesture of goodwill.
Police said that after murdering Khan, the accused proceeded to Pune. A police team, led by Police Inspector Rajendra Prabhudesai and Panaji local Intelligence Bureau staff, arrested the accused.
