BANGALORE: The Jayanagar police have recovered an antique Panchaloha idol of a goddess said to be stolen from a temple in Madhugiri taluk. The police arrested the four persons, Peer Bakthar Ameer Saab (28) and Shivaiah Hanumanthappa (42) from Kodigena Halli in Madhugiri taluk, Sameer Syed Rasool (20) of Hindupur in Andhra Pradesh and Javed Hussain of Gedare village in Gouribidanur taluk, at Lakshman Rau Park here and recovered the idol worth around Rs. 10 lakh.

The accused were arrested when they were trying to find customers, the police said.

Killed in accident

L. Mahadeva (35), gunman of Revenue Minister G. Karunakara Reddy, died in a road accident near Binny Mill here on Sunday.

The victim was on his way home at Police Quarters on Mysore Road on his two-wheeler when a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation bus reportedly hit him. He died on the spot, police said. The police arrested the driver and seized the bus.
