SIRSI: The police arrested a rickshaw driver Raghavendra Siddappa Kambli and his associates Ramakrishna R. Hegde Ambagiri, Maltesh Shettalli and Jagannath Narayan Shetty, all from Sirsi, in connection with a dacoity on Monday night.

The dacoits had allegedly kidnapped B. Omkarappa of Kaginele in Shikaripur taluk of Shimoga district, who had come to Sirsi on bank work, taken him to a remote place near Sirsi and robbed him of Rs. 1.5 lakh in cash, two gold chains worth Rs. 45,000 and a mobile phone, at knife-point.

Mr. Omkarappa, however, managed to escape the same night and contacted his lawyer in Sirsi, who helped him register a complaint with the police.

The police managed to trace the culprits and arrested four of them on Tuesday, said police inspector N.T. Pramod Rao
