BANGALORE: The Peenya police have arrested four persons and seized fake Sodexho coupons with a face value of Rs. 6 lakh.
The police identified the accused as Veeresh (20) of Handrahalli, K. Vijay (20) and Mahesh (20) of Sunkadakatte and M.N. Mohan Kumar (19) of Adakamaranahalli.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Ulfat Hussain told reporters here on Tuesday that the accused received ITI training in mechanical maintenance of chemical plants.
Veeresh and Vijay had been working as sales assistants at a supermarket in T. Dasarahalli.
During their work, the accused learnt that they could earn easy money through sodexho coupons and got a large number of coupons printed through digital printing.
The accused had also purchased groceries worth Rs. 1 lakh from various departmental stores and later sold them at subsidised price to others.
The Central Crime Branch police on Monday arrested five persons on the charge of selling pirated video and MP3 discs and recovered discs worth Rs. 6.57 lakh.
The police gave the names of the accused as Shanmugam (38), Wasim Pasha (20), Syed Akram (30), Arun Kumar (20), and Seenuram (30). Two others, Murugesh and Surali, are absconding.
The police said that the accused used to sell pirated discs of films and songs in various languages in shops near the Kalasipalyam bus stand.
A case under Copyright Act has been registered with the Kalasipalyam Police.
