A team comprising 14 government officials from Latin America, Asia and African countries visited the Sahakara Rural Development Academy (SAHARDA) here on Friday to learn about cooperative institutions.

The team has been touring various regions in India and interacting with farmers, cooperative leaders and government officials, which is being coordinated by the Hyderabad-based National Institute of Rural Development. Ujjwal Kumar Ghosh, chief executive officer of the zilla panchayat, acquainted the team with the development programmes introduced by both Union and State governments. Gurupadappa Nagamarapalli, MLA and chairman of the District Central Cooperative Bank, Subrahmanya Prabhu, director, SAHARDA, and others were present. — Special Correspondent
