Online sale of Dasara gold cards launched
Special publicity designs for Dasara released
Illumination to be done across the city
MYSORE: A new method will be introduced to prevent misuse of entry passes given to VIPs to witness the Dasara procession on the palace premises on October 21.
A committee headed by Mysore City Corporation Commissioner P. Manivannan has been constituted to deal with the problem of misuse of such passes.
I.M. Vittalamurthy, Secretary, Kannada and Culture, Tourism and Information, told presspersons here on Thursday that the committee had been asked to prepare a list of VIPs to be invited and send invitations to them containing their names, photographs and bar codes so that they were not misused.
Even the invitations to special invitees and others for watching the procession on the palace premises would have bar codes wherein the entry would be restricted, he said. Stating that impeccable facilities would be ensured to Dasara gold cardholders, the Secretary said that the number of gold cards had been reduced to 750 as a measure to extend quality service.
“A lot of care is being taken to make suitable seating arrangements for them. Since the cards come with bar codes and seat numbers, none can sit on the chairs set aside for cardholders even though they do not turn up,” he said.
Of the 750 gold cards, 150 had been sold. The cards can be bought online by visiting www.mysoredasara.org. Skyway International Travels has made arrangements for sending cards to online buyers through courier within 48 hours. But the buyers have to make payment online using Visa or Masters credit cards.
“We are working out steps to give tidy seating arrangements on the palace premises following last year’s unpleasant experience,” he said.
Illumination would not be restricted to city centres, but would be done across the city, adding new concepts to the way illumination was done last year, he said.
Deputy Commissioner N.S. Channappa Gowda, City Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao, Mr. Manivannan, Chief Executive Officer of the zilla panchayat Kempe Gowda and Deputy Commissioner of Police K.T. Balakrishna were present.
Special publicity designs for Dasara brought out by the Department of Tourism were released. The facility of online purchase of Dasara gold cards was also launched.
