Three more people died in a private hospital
BANGALORE: The toll in the Goruguntepalya food poisoning case has risen to five with three more people breathing their last on Tuesday night. The police said Arumugam (46) died at Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences and his daughter Sunitha (19) at Victoria Hospital. Arumugam's relative Dhananjaya (23) died at a private nursing home. While Arumugam's wife Kalavathi (33) died on Monday night, their neighbour Vishalakshi (33) died on Sunday soon after consuming rotis made of semolina (rava).
Meanwhile, two goats and a cow died at Arumugam's house on Tuesday night. The police suspect that the animals could have eaten the rotis.
Arumugam's relative Dayavani had prepared rava rotis using semolina given to her by her relative Velayudhan alias Velu of K.R. Puram, who works at the RMC Yard. After consuming the rotis, nine members of Arumugam's family and Vishalakshi complained of general weakness, breathlessness and stomachache. The police said that the semolina, which was used for making the rotis, had been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for analysis. Velayudhan had reportedly got a packet of semolina from a lorry driver.
