Merchants at the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) at Bandipalya on Mysore-Nanjangud Road woke up on Thursday to find that five shops in the yard had been burgled.

Unconfirmed reports said that nearly Rs. 3 lakh had been stolen.

The police said that the burglars gained entry into the shops after breaking open the rolling shutters. The merchants have demanded that security at night be increased. — Staff Correspondent
