HASSAN: Five places of tourist interest in the State — Belur, Halebid, Shravanabelagola, Chitradurga and Srirangapatna — have been recommended to be listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites, by the Archaeological Society of India (ASI), through the Centre.

ASI Southern States Director-General Venkateshaiah visited Belur and Halebid on Sunday. Later, he told presspersons here that although the Supreme Court had passed orders that new constructions were not permitted within 100 metres of the Chennakeshava temple in Belur, the ASI was yet to receive a copy of the order.
