The Panchamasali Samaja, a prominent Lingayat sub-sect, will soon set up five ‘shakha maths’ in different places in the State.
Disclosing this at a press conference here on Saturday, B.C. Umapathy, president of the district unit of the samaja and an industrialist, and B. Lokesh, spokesman of the samaja, said that the need to set up shakha maths (branches) had arisen because it had become difficult to communicate with over 80 lakh people of the community in the State.
The State committee of the samaja would soon finalise the places for setting up the branches, Mr. Umapathy said.
The samaja would be conducting its fourth State conference in Hagari Bommanahalli from February 14 to 18. The first Hara temple would be inaugurated on February 14 and a free eye check-up camp would be conducted the same day, as part of the conference, he said.
A mass marriage ceremony and a women’s convention had been organised on February 15.
A workshop for schoolchildren would be held on February 16.
On February 17, a farmers’ convention would be organised. A seminar on the present political situation would be held the same day. The former Chief Ministers H.D. Kumaraswamy and B.S. Yeddyurappa, Deputy Chief Minister K.S. Eshwarappa and president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee G. Parameshwara would take part in it, he said.
