DAVANGERE: Five persons from Bangalore, including two software engineers, were killed and five were injured when a multi-utility vehicle, in which they were travelling, collided with a private bus near Anegod, about 15 km from here, in the early hours of Friday.

The deceased were going to Goa from Bangalore for a holiday. The private bus was proceeding to Tiptur from Davangere.

The deceased have been identified as Abhishek, Srikanth, Vamshi, Ramesh and the driver Trilok Kumar.

Beerappa Hosahalli, Shyam Kishore, Mallikarjun Guntur, Sri Ram and Phanikumar, who have been injured, have been admitted to the Chigateri General Hospital here.

All the deceased and the injured, except the driver, are stated to have belonged to different places in Andhra Pradesh.

Police said negligent driving by the driver of the bus might have resulted in the accident.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Shahu and Circle Inspector Narayan Rajput visited the spot and supervised the rescue operations.
