Five get Global Konkani Music Award

MANGALORE: Akshada Talaulikar and Lawry Travasso, both from Goa, have been adjudged “best female” and “best male” singers, respectively, at a glittering Global Konkani Music Awards ceremony at Kalangann here on Sunday. The awards will henceforth be presented every year.

The awards were announced in three other categories: Best Music Composer, Best Lyricist, and Best Album.

These awards were bagged by Dilip Kashinath Vaze (Goa), Wilson Sequeira (Kateel) and Alwyn Sequiera-Praveen Duth Stephen (Mangalore). There were three nominees in each category.

The awards were conferred on the winners by popular singer Usha Uthup. Wilfy Rebimbus was conferred with the Konkani Music Lifetime Achievement Award. Three dances by the Mandd Sobhann team to instrumental music was impressive.

The music was composed by the Gurukaar (Chief) of Mandd Sobhann, Eric Ozario. Music team was led by guitarist Alwyn Fernandes. E.P. Pathnaik on the flute and Manoj on the violin played fusion and Arabic music for the audience.
