The vigilance squad of the Forest Department has registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Shubha, wife of Deputy Inspector General of Police of CID S. Murughan, in whose official residence Lokayukta officials found timber stored without any licence.

Though timber was found stored illegally in the official residence of Mr. Murughan, the FIR has been registered against his wife. Further, the name of the accused has been wrongly spelt as Shobha.

During the raid, the Lokayukta officials found timber valued at Rs. 3 lakh without any permit and recommended to the Forest Department to initiate action. Ms. Shubha has been accused of violating Section 62 of the Karnataka Forest Act, 1963. If charges are proved, the accused would have to undergo a six months' imprisonment with a fine of Rs. 500.

Sources in the vigilance squad said that a copy of the FIR had been submitted to the JMFC Court and a case had been registered.
