GULBARGA: Members of the Akila Karnataka Chitrakala Vidyarthi Padavidarara Horata Samiti launched an indefinite relay fast in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office here on Monday demanding that the State Government fill all vacant posts of art teacher in primary and high schools.

An unemployed art teacher Narayan Joshi began the relay fast on Monday.

In a memorandum addressed to Primary and Secondary Education Minister Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri and submitted to the district authorities, the members demanded that the posts of art teachers in primary schools should be filled keeping age as the criteria.

The memorandum said that the Government should also appoint art teachers under the Nali Kali programme and the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan programme.
