Daily wage employees working in Morarji Desai and Kittur Rani Chennamma Residential Schools and hostels called off their fast outside the Deputy Commissioners office here on Sunday following a written assurance by Deputy Commissioner N.S. Prasannakumar that their demands for increased minimum wages would be conceded.

Bhimshetty Yempalli, president, Gulbarga District Hostel Daily Wage Employees Sangha, said in a press release that the employees would be paid a salary of Rs. 4,950 through cheques and the details of the provident fund contributions would be made available to them every month. — Special Correspondent
