Farmers of Gogi and surrounding villages in Shahpur and Yadgir taluks, who are likely to lose their land for exploration of uranium by Uranium Corporation of India Ltd. (UCIL) at Gogi, have urged the district administration to stop the land acquisition process taken up by the revenue authorities.

The farmers, under the banner of the Bhoomi Thayi Horata Samiti, who are spearheading the agitation against the proposed uranium mining project in Yadgir district, said in their memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner that granting permission to explore uranium in Yadgir district was still pending before the Ministry of Environment and Forests.
