Residents of G. Malligere in Mandya staged a protest outside the office of the Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation in the village on Saturday against Accounts Officer Padmavathi, alleging that she used “foul” language.

The protesters alleged that she “badly insulted” the farmers on Friday when they met her to enquire about transformers for their village. The farmers locked Ms. Padmavathi’s office and raised slogans against her. “The State government or the authorities concerned should initiate stringent action against the officer,” they demanded. She had crossed all limits of “decency and decorum”, the farmers alleged, narrating their humiliation by the official.

The residents staged the protest for more than an hour.
